Pablo Picasso was born in Spain in 1881 to parents who loved the arts. His father was an art teacher at a local school, and his mother was a huge supporter who helped raise money for the art community year after year. They encouraged Pablo from an early age to become a great artist.

Picasso's painting style continually changed throughout his life and would evolve into one of the greatest artists in the 20th century. Picasso learned from his parents early in his life not to be afraid to try new things. His paintings reflect this. One day he would paint an " Altar Boy" while working on some of his first abstract art ( which made him famous).

As Picasso became older, he moved to France like most artists did to chase his dreams of becoming a well known. Pablo would face many life-changing moments in the next several years.

We learn from him that he wore his emotions on his sleeve. This was just one of many things that made him special. He was not afraid for people to see him sad. He was famous for painting how he felt. Through his "Blue Period." To his "Red Period." History knows more about Pablo than most artists.

Picasso lived to be ninety-two years old. He was one of history's greatest painters but was great at other things too.

He made sculptures, prints, drawings, beautifully colored dishes, and bowls. He even made costumes and scenery for plays.

We love to teach the kids about Picasso and his family. Each child learns that it is ok to be themselves. It is fun to see them realize it is ok to try new styles and techniques in art. This helps them build self-confidence in other areas of their lives as well.

We will teach the kids a few different Picasso styles and help them learn to develop their techniques.
